Breaking the Stigma Around Mental Health and Grief.

At AdaptDNA, we are passionate about breaking the stigma around mental health and grief. We offer products and workshops that help people cope with the pain and loneliness that comes with losing a loved one.

Begin the Healing Process

Grief is a process, not an event. It takes time to heal and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Discovering the source of your pain can help you to understand your grief and begin the process of healing.

Identify Your Relationship with Grief

It is important to understand your own relationship with grief in order to better cope with your loss. Your background culture, family, etc. can affect how you process and express grief.

Reclaim Your Life

When you lose a loved one, it can feel like you will never heal. But it is possible to reclaim your life after loss. With time and support, you can begin to rebuild your life and find joy again.

Our Story

In 1998, Cheryl's life changed forever. After spending 2 hours at a local hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Cheryl's 8-year-old daughter Rachel was transferred to the Sick Kids Hospital after a flu bug she had been fighting for a week triggered a condition called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP). Rachel's doctors couldn't figure out why she was so lethargic.

The virus damaged Rachel's brain, and there was in fact a bleed in her brain, necessitating surgery. Rachel's doctors act promptly, transferring her to the operating room. Cheryl kisses her daughter and tells her to be brave as she prays for her recovery. Two-and-a-half hours later, a surgeon approaches Cheryl and her ex-husband to deliver the news that "she didn't make it".
